"Then there's Khartoum Karl..."

There's the usual Dana Milbank snickering there, but realistically, Sudan is untouchable and is going to stay untouchable. Ukec is going to get the last laugh, and the giggling about gum arabic ignores all the real cards Sudan holds.

Ironically, Dr. Jim Buckee has just retired as president of Talisman Energy - which was hounded out of Sudan by the liberal left.

General Jack Layton wants to lead Canadian troops in an invasion of the Sudan, so the troops can then 'keep the peace'.

The Sudanese army and militias might be opposed to that however, and since they have lots of Chinese weapons General Jack had better study up on his weapons and tactics before he leads the way. Unless of course Jack's simply being a mouthy smartass who doesn't mean a thing he says.

"General Jack Layton wants to lead Canadian troops in an invasion of the Sudan"

How does he propose to get them there?

Bruce Rheinstein: Well, there is a railway from Port Sudan that winds its way west and ends up in Janub Darfur. If one could use the railway...
