Comments: Darfur: I sure hope I was wrong
Comment by dmorris:

Darfur is an instance where Canada can do much good, by staying home, and providing lots of moral support for the African troops as they police the activities of their fellow Africans.

It would be racist and condescending for Canada or the U.S. to try to interfere in African troubles. The whites have been sent packing from their former colonies by popular demand, and Africans have had, in some cases, more than fifty years to get their houses in order. They simply do not need our interference any longer.

China, whose magnificent civilization precedes our by thousands of years, has stepped to the fore on this one, as they should, what with their business ties to Sudan.

We wish China lots of luck, and keep us informed as to how it's going over there, lads.

Mr. Harper, do NOT send one Canadian soldier to this fracas. We have more than done our part, as a nation, to help restore "peace in the world". This is NOT our fight, keep our military the hell out of Darfur.

If some Canadian politicians, Jack Layton for example, are so worried about Darfur, let them form a private force, such as the Mackenzie-Papineau brigade, and go show us how it should be done.

So, we're talking about a UN mission made up of African soldiers -- known throughout the world for their professionalism, restraint, and strong sense of right and wrong -- who do not have the right to seize weapons. Furthermore, Sudan has to agree on which countries can participate. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Want to bring peace to the Sudan ? Bring back Kitchener.

How about we just erase Khartoum from the face of the earth, and let the white and blue Nile fill the hole??
